RUCKUS is a night for third- through fifth-grade students that is packed with worship, inflatables, pizza and games.
“We call RUCKUS our memory maker,” said Steve Young, Blankenbaker Campus Children’s Ministry associate. “It’s used to build a positive experience at church for kids to look back on. It’s our No. 1 kids outreach, and probably 40% of the kids who attend don’t go to our church.”
RUCKUS is set for Friday, Feb. 28, and this is the first year fifth-graders are being invited to the event.
“It’s a fun, high-energy event where kids can reach out and invite other kids,” added Misty Yates, Blankenbaker Campus Children’s Ministry event producer. “It’s an easy ask for them.”
Southeast’s Blankenbaker, Elizabethtown, Indiana and Southwest campuses will host the evening at their individual campuses. Students are to arrive at their specific campus at 6:30 p.m.
The Crestwood, La Grange and River Valley campuses will team up to take a trip to All About Kids, an indoor facility with multi-sport centers, an open gym and an inflatable fun zone.
Students of these three campuses will meet at the Crestwood Campus at 6:30 p.m. and then go to All About Kids.
About an hour of the night includes worship and teaching about Jesus.
RUCKUS ends at 11:30 p.m.
“It’s a really big deal to kids to stay up late past 9:30,” Young said. “It’s the best when they’re able to say they didn’t go to sleep until after midnight.”
