Everyone is invited to Christian Academy of Louisville’s Celebration of Christian Education, Friday, Feb. 26, at 7 p.m.
The virtual celebration is about honoring teachers and the mission of the school, but the speaker, Miles McPherson, pastor, author and former NFL player, was chosen for the message of his most recent book, “The Third Petition,” which is about celebrating all people as made in God’s image.
“We chose Miles because of all that is going on in our community and nation. We believe we can come together to celebrate God’s image in every person,” said Adrienne Crosby, director of development and alumni affairs at CAL. “We must be unified and bring the lost along with us.”
All proceeds from the event will support CAL’s Annual Fund to help with technology, tuition assistance, athletics and fine arts.
McPherson is the pastor of the Rock Church in San Diego. A former defensive back for the San Diego Chargers, he also is an actor and motivational speaker.
While playing for the Chargers, McPherson developed a cocaine addiction that put him into a tailspin. After a weekend drug binge, he called out to Jesus and stopped doing drugs in one day.
In 2000, he started Rock Church in San Diego that now reaches 18,000 a week. He also started Do Something Church to equip churches to meet needs in the community.
Miles has written eight books. His latest, “The Third Option,” speaks about racial division and argues that we must learn to see people not by the color of their skin, but as God sees them—humans created in the image of God.
