Super Terrific Talent Show

Many different acts, including singers, dancers and piano players will perform at the Super Terrific Talent Show Dec. 6.

Members of Southeast Christian Church’s Shine Disabilities Ministry are set to showcase their talents.

On Friday, Dec. 6, the Shine Disabilities Ministry and the College-Age Ministry are joining forces to host the inaugural Super Terrific Talent Show at 6 p.m. in the Block. All are welcome.

“This is going to be so much fun,” Shine Disabilities Ministry Leader Mary Tatum said. “Our folks have so many talents, and I’m excited to invite the whole community to join in celebrating them.”

Every year, the Shine Disabilities Ministry has hosted a talent show on the last night of Camp Freedom, the annual summer camp for adults with disabilities, but this year, due to a tighter schedule, the talent show had to be postponed.

“We promised them we would still put on a talent show later in the year, so we thought, ‘Why not make it an event?’” Tatum said.

More than a dozen acts will perform throughout the night, including singing, dancing, piano, martial arts and others.

One of the acts, Backstreet Dreams, a lip-sync group from Down Syndrome of Louisville, has already had quite an eventful year.

The group formed this summer to make a lip-sync video of the Backstreet Boys’ hit song, “I Want It That Way.” The video has since garnered more than 18,000 views.

In September, Backstreet Dreams, which consists of many Southeast members, had the opportunity to meet the Backstreet Boys when their “DNA World Tour” came to Louisville.

Tatum said she is excited to give those with disabilities the opportunity to have their own spotlight and share their infectious joy.

“We want this to be a night where people can feel the love and joy that God has for them, and where they are able to share that with others,” Tatum said.
