Easter 2021

Easter looked a lot different last year, with many viewing services from home due to COVID-19 church closures.

This year, Southeast Christian Church will hold 44 Easter services in the span of four days, Thursday through Sunday, April 1-4. Senior Pastor Kyle Idleman will share a message titled “Broke the Grave.”

“Hebrews talks about the importance of not neglecting meeting together, and I think we’ve recognized just how true that is in this last year,” Idleman said. “I am so grateful for the opportunity to gather together for Easter after two years and am entering this weekend with a lot of gratitude to God and excitement for what He will do.”

The sermon title shares the name with a song born out of Southeast’s worship team, Awaken Worship.

“After this past year, the message that there is nothing Jesus cannot redeem has become all the more real to us,” Idleman added. “My prayer is that as people prepare their hearts for Easter, God would bring people into their path to invite to Easter this year as we celebrate the unshakable hope that we have in Jesus.”

Children’s programming is available from birth through fifth grade for all in-person services.

‘7 Days of Victory’

Idleman will also do a daily video devotional called “7 Days of Victory” throughout Holy Week, March 28-April 3.

The devotionals will be posted on Southeast’s Facebook and Instagram pages and will cover areas Jesus has declared victory over: disappointment, entitlement, exhaustion, anxiety, suffering, sin and darkness.

“‘7 days of Victory’ came out of our study through the book of Joshua as God’s people walk the walls of Jericho,” Idleman said. “It didn’t necessarily seem like a victory in the moment, but each step was a step of faithfulness that God calls all of us to take. As we began praying about doing a daily devo for Holy Week, we saw a lot of parallels where Jesus breaks down expectations of who He was and what He would do because He was so much better than what they expected. Our prayer is that people see from this time together through the final days of Jesus that He is worth every step.”
