Celebration of lights

Southeast members and attendees handed out free hot chocolate at The Brick Room in Shelbyville during the town’s annual Celebration of Lights event.

Volunteers from the future Shelby County Campus of Southeast Christian Church handed out free hot chocolate, which always helps on a cold winter night, during the annual Celebration of Lights event, which was held Nov. 9 in downtown Shelbyville.

“It was a fantastic event,” said Allison Henze, who lives in Shelbyville and is an event coordinator at Southeast’s Blankenbaker Campus. “We got to open up the doors of the Brick Room to connect with the Shelby County community. There were a lot of great questions about the Shelby County Campus and a lot of excitement. There was a lot of positive energy. It was a really fun night to be a part of, and I always get excited when people are excited about this campus opening.”

The Celebration of Lights included a Christmas tree lighting, music, crafts and food.

“Hot chocolate was a great way to spark conversations,” Henze added. “A lot of families were able to come in, take a seat at one of our tables and rest after walking to the different vendors.”

Several of Southeast’s local ministry partners also were represented at the event: Awake Ministries, ALC in Shelbyville, Veteran’s Club, Operation Care and Next Step Training Program.
