Ice cream

Ice cream socials are fun for every age.

This summer, Southeast Christian Church is providing ice cream party kits for area senior living facilities. It’s an easy way for volunteers to connect and get involved with area seniors.

Outreach assures seniors they are not forgotten. Kits are designed to be easy and fun. In area facilities that are still closed to visitors, party kits make it simple for busy staff to host a party for residents still feeling isolated.

Kits include all the fixings for a party—from bowls and spoons to a pin the cherry on the sundae game and much more.

Right now, Southeast members are active in 65 facilities. There’s always room for more.

It’s easy to make a difference.

>Call a senor facility near you to ask if your family or group can host an ice cream social. Confirm the number of residents and work with the staff to schedule a time for the party.

>Next contact LifeBridge Manager Lisa Reynolds at lreynolds@secc.org or (502) 253-8146 with the information on the facility to reserve a kit.

>Party kits must be reserved by Thursday, July 15.

Southeast member Karen Bonura volunteers in three nursing homes.

“I love to be able to give,” Bonura said. “This is another way I can connect the needs in the community with the resources of our church. They make it so easy, and it’s fun to be a small part of the blessing that the church is doing for the vulnerable in our community.”
